Family Photos 2013

Family Photos 2013

Around this time of year, every year, I have made it a tradition to do family photos: even though my husband complains, and it’s hard to find outfits, and the kids don’t want to sit and smile at a camera for long, and there is SO much going on! I think it’s important to capture the ever-changing dynamic of my cute little family, which we hope will continue to grow and change through the years. This year I was going to skip them because it really was SO hard finding the time, and I didn’t feel as if our family dynamic had changed all that much from last fall, but i’m so glad we decided to do them! Braden and Gemma have changed a lot since last year, and really do look a lot older. Plus, it’s always good to have up-to-date photos to decorate with, post as profiles online, and use to make christmas cards and send to family.

Al & Kristens Family Photos

Al & Kristens Family Photos

This weekend the family got together for general conference, and I promised my sister in law Kristen I would take her family photos. Before we left, we got a couple of quick snap-shots of “Grandma” and “Grandpa” with all of their sweet grandkids. We got the exact same picture this time last year, so we’re making it a tradition:

Betsy & David Kemp Family Photoshoot

Betsy & David Kemp Family Photoshoot

A little while ago Betsy asked if I would take her family photos and we must have re-scheduled at least five or six times before we were finally able to take them because the CRAZY Mattawa wind would just not die-down! Finally we got our perfect evening, and I think it was well worth the wait, because the lighting was gorgeous and the photo-shoot was so much fun! I LOVE the outfits she chose to dress her sweet little family in — those are my kind of colors, so I would have dressed my family in the exact same way. Her sweet little kiddos, Ella, Tanner and baby sophie were SO well behaved, and they brought along “Grandma” to make them smile and laugh behind the camera (which was SO helpful!) At one point we took a wrong turn and ended up hiking up a really steep part of the canyon, and instead of complaining, the kids kept saying: “this is awesome Sarah. This is awesome Sarah!” They came from tricities where they live, and were just having SO much fun exploring the “country” and I think that showed through in the photos. They picked me about 20 flowers, which was SUPER sweet (and hard to hold whilst taking photos!) Haha. The kids were adorable, David was SO kind and patient, and betsy was just beautiful and super sweet… so yet again, I just feel as if I lucked out with dream clients! Here are some of my favorite photos from their shoot:  More

Damon, Jessica & Daxtin’s Photoshoot

My brother in law Damon is off to Idaho next week to start a new college and a new life down in Idaho — and i’m really going to miss him and his sweet little family! :-( My sister in law Jessica asked if I would take some family photos for them before they left, so she would have something to decorate her new place with, and I happily agreed, not only because I love them and they’re family, but because she has been SO helpful to me, so this was the least I could do!

Family Photo Craziness!

Family Photo Craziness!

I have wanted to do family photos for a REALLY long time now, I just haven’t been able to get my act together. At first I wanted to find the right outfits, and lose a few pounds…. silly reasons! Then we just got really busy with trips and work. Then we had a night free, scheduled it, and my kiddos got sick–so it has just been a little trickier than I thought to get it done.
