This week I planned to buy a really cute centerpiece and some pretty pastel plates and chargers for my Easter table, but I ran out of time to go to all the stores I needed to, and just decided to get a little creative with some things I already had at home. I have mentioned in my last few posts that I have been redecorating and re-purposing a lot this week, so I pulled some vases, flowers and candlesticks from my office, and put out some chicks and eggs I had from last year to decorate my Easter table. I thought I would post a few ideas in case anyone else out there wants to decorate a cute Easter table in a super inexpensive, SUPER simple way this year.
This week I finally finished my sons bedroom!
I had kind of a hard time deciding on a theme for him because he loves so many different things! He’s pretty obsessed with tractor’s and since my husband’s family are farmers and we’re always surrounded by them here in Mattawa, I thought that would be a cool theme to go with. He also loves airplanes though, and since his Daddy is just a test away from getting his pilot’s license, I thought that would be a pretty sweet theme too! Then there’s motorbikes… another little obsession of his! His Daddy, Grandpa, and all his uncles are pretty avid Harley riders, so I knew he’d love a motorbike room too, so I had a hard time choosing just one thing. So basically, I ended up with an agglomeration of all the things he loves: ANYTHING WITH WHEELS! Planes, trains, trucks, cars, tractors, motorbikes…just transport in general. More
My days studying as a student at Brigham Young University kind of turned me into a list-a-holic. It’s how I would thrive and stay productive during my studies, and the habit has just kind of carried over to my life as a stay at home mum. The first thing I do in the morning is make my daily to-do list. I also have lists for projects, Blog posts, groceries, shopping, menus and other things, so I decided I needed a way to just “keep it all together.” (My lists, and my sanity!)
Last year I started decorating my daughters nursery, but now she’s getting a little older (she’ll be two on saturday!) I thought i’d update her room a little bit and share a few pictures with you. My husband and I are renting the place we currently live in while we save up to build a house of our own here in Mattawa, so not only did I have to decorate on a really tight budget, but I didn’t want to impair the home in anyway, or even go through the hassle of painting (when I knew i’d just have to repaint it later). So I kept it basic, but I got pretty creative and did a lot of D.I.Y projects for her room, along with some custom art work and photography. More
I thought I would exempt myself from new year’s resolutions this year since I’m already learning how to cook and bake, and improve my photography and art- but there’s just something about post-christmas that makes me want to completely purge my house, re-organize it, re-decorate it, and make it feel fresh and clean and beautiful! So I decided to make this my new year’s resolution.
