Minecraft Party with Free Printables

Minecraft Party with Free Printables

A couple of days ago my little guy turned SIX, and asked to have his birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese…. for the THIRD year in a row! I was O.K. with that, since it’s so much less work than hosting a house-party, and all I had to do was make a cake, send out some invites, and create some goody bags! As a huge perfectionist, I knew those three things would be enough to keep me busy for a while! Braden wanted to invite 12 friends– so I knew if I didn’t keep costs low for each goody bag, it would add up really fast, so I pretty much got everything from the dollar store, besides the candy, which I got from Winco. I searched online, and of course pinterest, for some free minecraft printables, and couldn’t really find much, so my amazingly talented graphic-designing husband whipped these up for me, and they turned out SO cute, I was really excited to share them with you! We were up past midnight creating, printing, cutting and gluing these– after a long day of cake making, so from one parent to another– I hope these free printables will save you a lot of work, time and stress!

Simple White & Gold Christmas Sugar Cookies

Simple White & Gold Christmas Sugar Cookies

Every Christmas I love to make sugar cookies for my friends, family, and kids school classes! I calculated that I needed to make 160 this year, so I started making and freezing them right after thanksgiving to avoid the “last minute hustle” I always seem to very-stressfully get myself into, days before Christmas! Well, I got 30 made, and then was hit by a horrible sickness that set me back a couple of weeks! Long story short– that stressful hustle I wanted SO badly to avoid this year, got me again! And I now had a day and a half to get 130 sugar cookies made. I needed a design that was really simple if I was going to pull this off, so I decided to stick with a “White Christmas” theme, and make them a little extra beautiful and fancy with some gold embellishments. I am really glad I kept to this sweet and simple theme. I didn’t need to make several different colored icings, or sprinkles, or mess with fondant. Just one big batch of white icing and some sprinkles, and I was good to go!! I hope this inspires other busy momma’s out there, who are as last minute as I am!

Graduation Themed Funfetti Cupcakes

Graduation Themed Funfetti Cupcakes

My little guy graduated from preschool last week, and a few of the mums got together to throw a fun little party at the park to celebrate the end of the kids first school year, and the beginning of their first ever summer holiday! We brought bubbles, water guns and water balloons, and they had fun running around like CRAZY as most 5 year olds do. I volunteered to bring all the kids a treat–and in asking Braden what he wanted, he didn’t hesitate to tell me “funfetti cupcakes” which are his favorite. After decorating them with sprinkles, they were so boring, I decided to make these little scrolls and caps to go on them, at the very last minute. I KNOW!! I am one of those annoying “pinterest mums” that over-does everything and makes other mums feel bad! :-( I didn’t want to be that cliche, but I did want the kids to LOVE their cupcakes, and they really did, so it was all worth it. They were fun to make, and were the hit of the party… not just with our little graduates, but with the Mum’s {I just didn’t dare tell them how much butter was in them!} ;-) I used the Cake Boss’ vanilla frosting recipe, which is my all time fave. And I thought I would post the recipe/idea along for all you other overachieving, pinterest mums out there, that live to put a smile on their kiddos faces!

The Ultimate SOFT Dinner Roll Recipe

The Ultimate SOFT Dinner Roll Recipe

My mother in law is a really talented cook and baker, and I have shared a lot of her awesome recipes over the course of this Blog–but the one I am most excited about passing on–the one that everyone LOVES– is this one. I have posted a couple of roll recipes before–a beginner’s recipe that is so fool-proof it’s almost impossible to get wrong, and one that is crusty and delicious and looks pretty! But this is the ultimate SOFT, delicious dinner roll recipe. It is a little harder to master, which is why I wrote down some really specific tricks and tips! But I guarantee you the effort will be WAY worth it–and that they will be the softest dinner rolls you have ever tried. She published the recipe in a local church cookbook years ago, and everyone who has tried to recreate them has failed… so my sister and law and I teased her that she purposefully left out a key ingredient, or secret, and that is why we decided to watch her like a hawk and take notes last time she baked them! I went home and tested the recipe as I had written it–and it was perfect! They came out warm and soft and pillowy and sweet! Thanks Daneen for letting us share your “secret” recipe! I don’t “hope” you love it, as I usually write. I “know” you all will!

Classic Easter Bunny Sugar Cookies

Classic Easter Bunny Sugar Cookies

My five year old-sons preschool class celebrates every holiday with a big party, and I always try and volunteer sugar cookies or cupcakes to help them celebrate! A few weeks ago I found this adorable bunny cookie cutter and have been excited to use it–I know it’s hardly very “original” to make white easter bunny cookies for easter! But I tried to get a little creative with some pink pearls and shaved coconut for their little pom pom tails. We have had a real bunny running around our house this past week, and I told my kids he’s the Easter bunny getting ready to deliver treats! They love him, and I think they loved these cookies just as much!  More
