The BEST 4 ingredient, 5 minute naan! {a new fave. recipe}

Ever since I posted my delicious chicken tikka masala recipe just over a year ago, I had tons of people ask me if I had an awesome naan bread recipe. My go to “recipe” back then was to add butter and crushed garlic to a store brought naan, and broil it for a couple of minutes. When you’re trying to make rice, chicken tikka, and a masala sauce simultaneously plus any additional sides, it’s just really hard to juggle one more thing: let alone a complicated naan recipe on top of all that!

Then the other day I came across a naan bread recipe that was SO quick and simple and AWESOME, that I don’t think I will ever buy a store-brought naan ever again! They’re expensive, hard to find, and I never seem to have any on hand when I make CTM! This recipe requires just 4 ingredients, that I always have in my kitchen! So I can make naan on a whim, in an instant, whenever I like, for pennies and that is why this is one of my new favorite recipes ever!!

You can adapt this recipe however you like: I made mine in a mixer, but of course, it can easily be done by hand too. You can brush melted butter on top, and serve it plain. Broil some garlic on it to make a delicious garlic naan, or add some sweet coconut and chopped cashews for a sweeter naan. You can also make a delicious peshwari or stuffed naan! Any way you make it, I hope you just love this recipe as much as I do!

Ingredients: {makes 4 large naans} recipe adapted from
2-3 cups bread flour plus more for rolling
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 pinches kosher salt
1 1/3 cup water
olive oil for cooking

In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine 2 cups flour, baking powder, salt and water. Stir until combined. Fit the mixer with a dough hook, then knead until a soft ball of dough forms, adding additional flour 1/4 cup at a time, until it’s no longer sticky. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces, then roll out on a floured-work surface.
Heat 1 tsp olive oil in a grill pan {for those nice grill marks} or a frying pan, and cook the naan 3-4 minutes per side, until golden. Repeat with remaining naan. Brush with butter if desired.

To make Garlic Naan: heat the broiler on high. Brush the naan with butter and roasted crushed garlic, and broil for 3-4 minutes until slightly browned. Garnish with chopped cilantro if desired.

Serve with chicken tikka masala! SONY DSCP.S. These might not taste quite on par with the store brought naan I love so much, but for having just a couple of easy ingredients and taking just a few minutes to make–this recipe can’t be beat, and it’s so versatile! I am so excited to finally have a go-to naan recipe I have been searching for over the past year.

-and I hope you guys all enjoy it too!
