Two-Ingredient Five-Minute Chocolate Mousse
21 Jan 2012
Yesterday I had my brother and sister in law over to watch a movie, so I thought i’d be a good hostess and whip them up something delicious to eat, (especially because they babysit for us for FREE sometimes, and I owe them really big!) But by the time I had picked up the house, and put the babes to bed, I had about five minutes to spare before they arrived to make something. Then I remembered a recipe I saved on pinterest called 5 minute mousse, and decided to give it a try, and it was pretty heavenly.
I thought i’d pass along the recipe, because it’s a great one to have on hand!
Ingredients:
9.35 ounces (265 grams) bittersweet (%70 cocoa solids) chocolate, chopped
1 cup (240 ml) water
4 tbsp sugar, optional
Directions:
Place a large mixing bowl on top of another slightly smaller one, filled with ice and cold water (the bottom of the large bowl should touch the ice). Set aside.
Chop the chocolate
Put chocolate and water (also sugar and/or liquor if you’re using) in a medium-sized pan and melt the chocolate over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Pour the melted chocolate into the mixing bowl sitting on top of ice and water, and start whisking with a wire whisk (or an electrical hand-held mixer) until thick. P.S. Use the biggest bowl you have to avoid making as big of a mess as I did!
Watch the texture as you whip and make sure not to over-whip as it will make the mousse grainy. If the mousse becomes grainy (which is possible at your first try), transfer it back into the pan, reheat until half of it is melted, pour it back to the mixing bowl and whisk again briefly.
Divide into four serving cups and serve immediately.
This chocolate mousse recipe seems perfect in every way… it’s simple, it requires 2 basic ingredients, and it’s so fast… however, there is just one little drawback I have to warn you about before you make it. It is super RICH! Probably the most chocolatey- thing I have ever eaten in my life. I’m not sure entirely how the mousse turned out to be richer than the chocolate that went into it- but I think it was magic. I should probably ask my husband since he’s an amateur magician and always has the answers to puzzles like that! But seriously. Just a few bites will give you your chocolate fix for the week. That’s the type of richness we’re talking about here.
So, while this may not be the absolute PERFECT chocolate mousse recipe [since it's a little on the rich side] I still decided to post it, because for a quick fix dessert- this one is really hard to beat!!
Hope you’re all having a fab weekend!
Love Sarah

Can’t wait to try this!!!
Since you are the up-and-coming food guru, I wanted to ask you a question. Since you know a bit more about recipe websites, I was hoping you could help me find what I’m looking for. I have a REALLY hard time with keeping track of all I have in my pantry/ food storage. I’ve heard of some sites where you could enter in some ingredients you have. I’m hoping that there is a site that takes it one step further- where you can enter in all of the things you have on hand- ex. 3 cans of black beans, 2 bottles of terayaki sauce, 1 can of pineapple, etc.- and it could give you recipes that include mostly ingredients you have on hand. Do you know if there’s anything like that?
Also, I have been needing to make more birthday cards for a long time now, so I’d love another post of your cute cards so I can be inspired/ copy them!!!!!

I just asked the real person that would know something like that- Dean. I thought he could build us an awesome site, but he said they already exist, but he doesn’t know a good one. I looked and saw http://www.foodbat.com. You could try that. There’s also software, and fridges that take inventory too- not to mention all the apps for android and iphone/ipad (if you have either of those, that would be the way to go!!) Sorry Mari. Not much help. But cards I can do!! Love ya
