Tomato Bisque

Tomato Bisque

This evening we had an etiquette night for the youth in my ward with a three course meal. Luckily I didn’t have to prepare all of it, but I was assigned to do the soup, and I had a great one in mind! This recipe comes from one of my favourite cook books ever (Lion house classics) and it’s so simple and delicious that I just had to share it. It also got mad reviews from everyone I served it to.

No Sew Ruffle Tree Skirt

No Sew Ruffle Tree Skirt

I am pretty much the world’s worst sewer. I have broken every sewing machine I have ever touched, and although I respect girls who know how to use them, it’s probably best if I just keep my distance. So, when I found this no-sew fabric craft, I was actually pretty excited, because it looked like something even I could do. It’s SO CUTE! I’ve seen them all over pinterest and they’re selling them on Etsy for around $90-200! But I knew I could make one for much cheaper, so I went to HGTV and followed their TUTORIAL. This is how theirs turned out:

Roast Chicken & Stuffing

Roast Chicken & Stuffing

Before I started this Blog I was stuck in a chicken-cooking comfort zone – so I have pretty much cooked every type of chicken dish known to man, but I have never attempted to roast one before. Part of the reason is that roasting chicken & turkey intimidates me because you have to “get your hands dirty” in taking out gross giblets, you have to get technical with “trussing” and you have to get it just right so that it’s not tough (which seems to be really easy to do) and not underdone, which we all know is just bad!

Christmas Lantern Centerpiece

Today my son Braden and I had a lot of fun shopping in tri-cities together! I thought i’d take advantage of it being a saturday, to leave my 18 month old at home to play with Daddy so I could get more done…. except my plan kind of back fired, because it was SO BUSY everywhere! You would think it’s christmas tomorrow. But it’s not thankfully, because i’m not even nearly close to being prepared for it. However, I have almost finished all of my christmas decorating. Tonight we put up our Christmas tree, and I made a christmas centerpiece:

Christmas Mesh Wreath

Christmas Mesh Wreath

A little while back, a couple of friends and I were at a craft store and spotted a beautiful Christmas Wreath that was made out of mesh, and we all thought it was so cool! I have seen similar ones on Etsy that sell for around $75- which is just crazy!! But I didn’t want to make one either since it looked super complicated. Then my friend Karalee said: “I can make that! That looks SO EASY!” So the three of us went in on the supplies together ($10 each) and we got Karalee to teach us how to do it, and she was right- it WAS easy, plus it only took about an hour and a half to make! No wonder they’re all over Etsy!
