My husband and I don’t share many of the same hobbies and interests since i’m such a girly-girl, and he’s such a guy, but one thing we do love to do together is watch food & cooking shows. This summer we followed ‘The Next Food Network Star’ and ‘Masterchef,’ and in both of those shows they made poached pears! I’ve never tried one before, so I was kind of intrigued- and it looked kind of simple to make, so I just went for it. I’m glad I did too!

Traditional English Roast Beef Dinner with Yorkshires

My first ever roast!! Growing up, my Mum would make the most AMAZING Roast dinners every sunday after church. Looking back, I don’t know how she did it… every plate was piled high with food, and there were nine members of my family plus my parent’s friends, my friends, my brothers and sisters friends…it soon added up to about 20 people, and it was a loud, crazy happy place to be! I miss being with all my English friends and family, and I miss my mum’s English roasts, which is why I have decided to learn how to make them! (That, and plan a trip to England this summer!)

It’s kind of perfect that Braden wanted to be a little cowboy for Halloween, because we live in the wild wild west! Apart from all the green irrigated farmland around here, it’s VERY dry and hardly ever rains– and there are tumbleweeds everywhere! It made for some really cool pictures. P.S. Isn’t he the cutest cowboy you have EVER seen?! I just love my little guy!

Last Halloween my husband was in Chicago for work, and I was at a Trunk or treat running around with a 2 month old baby in my arms after a 20 month-old little “doggie” on a sugar high –needless to say, I had my hands full! Adding a camera to the mix was just impractical, SO this year I thought I would do a little photo-shoot of my cuties in their costumes before the fun starts! I took Gemma’s today, and planned on taking Braden’s tomorrow, then post them on Halloween- but I couldn’t wait. I’m too impatient, and excited!!

Halloween Cupcakes

I love making cakes and cupcakes, but have never made any for Halloween before. Then today I was thinking i’d make some for my Beehives (the 12 & 13 year old girls in my church) since we were having a halloween-themed youth night! (Practicing our AMAZING skit for the ward Halloween party on saturday night).
